Just for the record, if you can start and stop Epicor with batch files, then your OpenEdge is actually working.

There is possibly a program associated with OpenEdge that is not working, but your OpenEdge itself is actually working, otherwise you wouldn't be able to start Epicor at all.

I need some help.  I have been an admin for a while, so i know the usual things to do to get OpenEdge to start up, but it just won't start up.  I really need some help from someone with Open Edge knowledge.  


It was telling me that it could not connect to the adminserver.


I tried messing with the login and password and now it won't connect with the login i had stored.   Says it can't connect to my domain.


It is Sunday at 4pm EST.  please help

You may have already checked this  but just in case one time our dataserv log became too large. 
The file is located in the oe102a_wrk.  Epicor said to delete the file and restart the server.

I've tried everything.  I am trying this now.  The main issue with all this is that Epicor Support is completely unreliable.  No one ever called me.  I waited for Malaysia was working and made a call to them with a number that Chris Robisch (a person I met from here) gave me.  Sad!

Didn't work.  I don't know what else to do.  I have 3 more hours until Support starts.

Potentially, there is a lock file. This should have been deleted. I can't remember the details, but this seems to reference it http://knowledgebase.progress.com/articles/Article/P109066 . 

Normally happens when the server was rebooted etc rather than files getting too big etc.

I am now able to get openedge open, but still can't connect to the database.  When trying to test the connection with the Data Source (ODBC), it fails every time.  I am completely lost at this point.  Not sure if the login for OpenEdge is wrong.

You haven't listed what you've tried. Normally when this happens I select Start OpenEdge Management and see what if I get a "Can't initialize" or some other initialization error. Then I go into Administrative Tools --> Services and shutdown Admins Service for OpenEdge. I wait for about 2 minutes or so then restart the service. 

Keep us informed and let us know what the problem was.

Sorry guys.  i know i haven't been giving too much info for you guys to help me, but I am up now.  I tried everything i have learned in the past 2 years of being an admin and nothing worked.  i reset the firewall and everything came bake online, even though i rebooted nunmerous

My OpenEdge hasn’t worked for months. Fortunately I can stop / start Epicor with batch files.

You haven't listed what you've tried. Normally when this happens I select Start OpenEdge Management and see what if I get a "Can't initialize" or some other initialization error. Then I go into Administrative Tools --> Services and shutdown Admins Service for OpenEdge. I wait for about 2 minutes or so then restart the service.

Keep us informed and let us know what the problem was.

Normally happens when the server was rebooted etc rather than files getting too big etc.

Just for the record, if you can start and stop Epicor with batch files, then your OpenEdge is actually working.

There is possibly a program associated with OpenEdge that is not working, but your OpenEdge itself is actually working, otherwise you wouldn't be able to start Epicor at all.
