Using Production Factor

Hi,

I’m new to the form. Right now I use excel to schedule our production, but I’ve been tasked to get Epicor scheduling up and running. Our standards are correct, but we build small and complicated parts that everyone builds at different rates. In my excel schedule I have all the normal build rate people at “1” and the others at “.75”, “.50” etc. I have the schedule running based on the standards and I’m scheduling by capability, so I pull the right people into the right operations. Has anyone used the “production factor” setting in the capability set up? I was hoping to use that to adjust the people who might take longer to complete certain operations. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Nick

That is exactly what those fields are for. You could update a couple of them then run a what if to see the results.

Hi John,

I’ve updated all the fields with the settings I was looking for and it hasn’t updated any of my jobs. I’m not sure if there is something I have to run so the schedule pulls all that info in or not. I’ve re-ran MRP, calculated global scheduling and lastly ran my global scheduling. Not sure if I’m missing something or not.

Sorry I forgot to mention it in my first reply, but I would create a brand new job to test. I have found that once a job is scheduled, the settings get “stuck” and will not change. A new job that is not already on the schedule should fix that.

I tried a new job and still the same issue. We are hearing we might need the “advanced scheduling” module to be able to do what we are trying to do.

That sounds right. I didn’t think capabilities were even accessible without it. I think the same applies to Setup Groups.

I find it strange I can access them and edit them but they won’t work.

There are a lot of screens like that. You can access maintenance but doesn’t do anything without module X. I’m not sure if that’s because those screens span multiple modules, or it’s an oversight, but check with your cam on the needing “Advanced Scheduling” they should be able to get you the answer. From there you can dress with support or consider the module depending on the outcome. I personally wouldn’t trust support wholly for licensing information.
