Vantage 6.1 To Epicor 9 Upgrade - Inventory Interface

Jeff

One of the key issues is that we have a couple of hundred jobs open at the same time and having to go into each one on a monthly basis to manually recognize revenue is very cumbersome. The other issue has to do with storing the exchange rate we used every month when revaluing sales orders. Thanks .

Hi all.

We are upgrading from Vantage 6.1 to Epicor 9 and never used the "Inventory Interface in the Company configuration" because we are a tool & die shop and built our own Work In Process system because we could not use the one available in Vantage 6.1. We also did not use the inventory module because all costs where directed towards a job.  We have looked  at Epicor 9 and the Project Entry software does come further in being able to address the functionality required from a WIP Process perspective but still comes up short. In summary our plan is to build the Work In Process functionality from our Vantage 6.1 functionality into the Epicor9 system and then leave the "Inventory Interface " off as we did in our Vantage version 6.1 implementation. Does anybody see any issues with this?

Any comments or thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!

We are also a tool shop (plastic injection molds) and we also buy everything direct to a job- it is so nice to see a similar business here! We upgraded from Vantage 5.2 to Epicor 9.05 nearly 2 years ago and we also never turned on the inventory interface and we still have not turned it on. My controller has always been interested in it but has not had any luck with getting it to work the way he would want for us.  I am not familiar enough with all of the reasons he has not turned it on, but I know everything in 9.05 has been working fine for us without it turned on. Like you, we have our own custom reports for handling the WIP process. If you have specific questions you would like me to ask him let me know.Â

What are you looking for in WIP functionality where E9 comes up short? I’m usually not a fan of customization; lots of the problems I see stem from trying to customize and they can make upgrades much harder.
