1. The Vantage print routine creates Dbf files and places them in the working directory, c:\epicor\mfgwrk61
2. Open the report in Crystal 8.5 and do a verify database and see what you find.

Subject: [Vantage] Vantage 6 Reports Question
1.) What do the out of the box reports for Vantage 6 use for a datasource? Are they RDD,BAQ,ODBC?
2.) We are having an issue when we try to print or print preview any report we attempt to make changes to or has been modified that has a barcode inside that is NOT a Epicor out of the box report, we are getting 500-series errors. Has anyone come across this
before?
Thanks,
B-

Mike,
1.) C:\epicor\mfgwrk61 Had NO .dbf files in it.
2.) When I opened a report up in Crystal 8.5 and then clicked on 'Verify database' I got the following error:
Error Opening File
File could not be found:"shiphead", at file location: z:\epicor\mfgwrk61\shiphead.dbf"
When you do the Vantage client install, what do you use as the working directory?

Print preview the report you are looking to modify through the Vantage client interface. The .Dbf will not appear until at least a print preview is done.
Then in Crystal 8.5, look at Database -> Set Location and confirm the report is pointing the correct location.
Verify database and F5 to refresh data.

Mike,
Does vantage need to be installed on the same machine that has crystal 8.5? My machine only has Crystal but does not have the vantage client installed on it.
Thanks
David,
Will it generate a .dbf even though I get the 533 error when it tries to do a print preview? It errors out and the screen has no results.
Behind your Vantage 6 icon is a configuration file (Vantage.mfg). Locate and open this file with Notepad or a text editor.
In the configuration file approximately 7 lines down from the top, you should find an entry like this:
TempDirectory=C:\Epicor\MfgWrk61
Everything to the right of the equals sign is the temp directory where your report data files will be written to on the client pc.
In Crystal Report 8.5, open the report you are looking to test. On the Crystal Reports Database menu are the options to SET LOCATION and VERIFY DATABASE
From the Database menu, select the SET LOCATION option for the first data table listed on the left. Click the first button on the top right side of the dialog window. Navigate to the temp directory in the file explorer and double click on the dbf file named the same as the data table. Once selected, click the DONE button. When you are prompted to update all the data file locations, choose the YES option. This will update all the data tables to the data files found in the temp directory for this report.
Next click the VERIFY DATABASE option from the Database menu to confirm the report has been updated and the data files match the structure for which the report was written.
Finally, click the Lightning Bolt on the tool bar to refresh and preview the report.

Honestly, not sure. Search for the .Dbf
533 error – Unable to open database
As a default, the vantage looks in a c:\temp\.... , the location inside the report must be set to the correct folder.
Check and see by looking in the Report Style menu which particular report Vantage is seeking. Confirm exists in the correct folder.
Or …….
Just follow Calvin’s perfectly worded instructions.

Thank you Calvin,
Does the Client Machine need to have crystal installed on it in addition to vantage? Reason I ask is because my client machine that has crystal on it, does NOT have vantage on it. Maybe that's my problem?
Thank you in advance,

Understood.
I can't seem to find the .dbf files that are suppose to be generated when the print preview is done. The print preview gives me that error 533 and loads nothing. Could I not have the .dbf files due to the report not being able to run? If so how do I get around that? Build another report?
Thanks
Select the default Crystal form for the form you’re trying to edit. Then, do a print preview. The dbf files will be saved to your working directory. Copy these to a location that can be accessed by your workstation with Crystal.

So to update this I was able to get the report to point to the .dbf files via mapping a network drive to the location the .dbf files were being saved to. I saved the report, reloaded it into vantage and now I no longer get the 533 error and report loads.
My next question is how do I go about adding a Table to this report? Is it a RDD or something similar? Because I noticed the .dbf files are for each Table or something like that?
Thanks for the help All!
No ability to edit the default output files for old Vantage like new with RDDs. What you see is what you get.
I have heard of others adding tables via ODBC.
