Have suddenly started getting a problem when going into any Vantage Help
screen on my PC. I get the Contents, Index, Search menues on the left of
screen but get the standard internet type "The Page cannot be displayed"
error in the main body of the screen.
It certainly used to work OK and the only recent change I can think of
has
been the automatic application of the monthly Java patch.
I'm running Windows XP SP2 and Vantage 6.00.525
Any bright ideas anybody?
PS I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the client software

You have to patch the registry on the problem machines.

Contact tech support and they'll tell you how to fix it.

PROBLEM:

After applying service pack 1 for windows 2003, or certain hotfixes from
Microsoft, Vantage/Vista help will no longer work. Instead of the help
content you get "Action Cancelled"

RESOLUTION:

You have to explicitly allow for remote html execution via the registry.


Modify the ItssRestrictions registry entry to enable a specific security
zone
Warning Enable only those security zones that you trust. Do not enable
security zones about which you are not sure.

To modify the ItssRestrictions registry entry to enable a specific
security zone, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions

Note If this registry subkey does not exist, create it. To do this,
follow these steps:
a. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
b. Type ItssRestrictions, and then press ENTER.

3. Right-click the ItssRestrictions subkey, point to New, and then
click DWORD Value.
4. Type MaxAllowedZone, and then press ENTER.
5. Right-click the MaxAllowedZone value, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type a number from 0 and 4, and then
click OK.
7. Quit Registry Editor.
Note By default, the MaxAllowedZone value is set to zero.

Setting the MaxAllowedZone higher will allow for less access
restrictions. See the table below for exacts.

MORE INFORMATION
The InfoTech protocol is primarily used by HTML Help. The functionality
of this protocol is provided by the Itss.dll file. You can access this
protocol by using one of the following supported protocols:
o ms-its
o its
o mk:@msitstore


Once you have applied these changes you will have to reboot the machine.
The first time you enter the help screen you will be prompted to add the
URL to the trusted site. Click Add to allow this. If you are not
allowed to add the site because it is required to be a secure site,
uncheck "Require all sites in this zone to be secure" and then click
add.

Your help files will now work on this machine.

Is anyone in the UG using AIAG barcode. This is basically an automotive
standard for barcode label format that Mercury marine wants on their
packaging. Curious to know how others are doing this.
