Vantage.net?

Todd:

Vantage.net is a product that was introduced with the release of 4.0 and in
fact Hydromat had in working with its customer base back on 3.0.
Vantage.net was what I call online Customer Tracker. Your customers could
log into your site track invoices, shipments, packing slips, and even in our
case with some customization we allowed links to both UPS and FedEx for
tracking.

Vantage.net with 5.0 is still active, as well Epicor has introduced the
Storefront. Hydromat has installed the Storefront application and it is
running in a Beta form hitting a test database. Hydromat is also in the
process of modifying the Storefront for our needs.

I am not trying to stir anything up, but for you to go out on the onelist
and tell everyone it does not work at all is not true for everyone only your
case. I have my issues with Epicor, but I choose to address them to Epicor
specifically.

I hope this helps.

Respectfully,

Mark Engemann

I flat out does not work. I would wait if I were you. I bellied up and
bought it and e-storefront. Neither one of them work and to top it off, no
one at Epicor is willing to support it. I have been trying since November to
get Vantage.net to work. I have to send a flaming e-mail every now and again
and then I will get some lip service and then nothing again until I send
another e-mail. At his point I would advise to not waste your time
particularly with Vantage.net as you could create that functionality with
some fairly basic ASP pages. I am learning the hard way.

My understanding on Vantage.net is that it is in beta testing at this time
at a LIVE customers site. I have been told it will take about three more
weeks of testing (end of March early April) to get a better understanding on
how it works. I am very interested in this as well so I will be keeping in
touch with the testing to see how it is going. I will let you know how it
is going once I here.

Until then, wait patiently...

Kevin,

Who exactly told you this?
We purchased Vantage.net 10 months ago but have not installed it.
No one told us it was still in beta.
And if it is in beta then what do I have here?

I used the word "Beta" because as far as I know there are no customers that
have successfully implemented it as of yet. However I do know that Epicor
is working with a customer now to get it functional in a very short time
frame. I expect it to be completed soon as well as the rest of the
customers that have or are considering it.
This is going to be a great module for Epicor. Lets hope it all works out!
I can't wait to see it! It will be here soon....

It was never touted as a BETA product to me. It was said to be a final
product AND that it was so easy to implement that service credits for
on-site set-up were not required. They also said they realized that on-site
help was not required because most customers are doing it themselves now.
This implies to me that there are people using it? I have paid for the
product and no one is working with me to get it to work.

I have a pretty good investment tied up in this. Let's see I bought the
"software", a dedicated web server, Site Commerce Server, I have upgraded
my internet access to full t-1 and have set-up to host my own web site
including DNS etc. All told I have well over $30,000 in hardware and labor
into this. I also have my boss (the owner) breathing down my neck "where's
this e-commerce site you promised" My standard response of "the software
doesn't work" is being translated to "Todd is in over his head". As for
e-Storefront my response there is well e-storefront doesn't work and oh and
by the way even if it did it requires version 5.0 which....doesn't work
either! Do I sound aggravated???

I feel for ya man... We wanted to implement APS. APS works
poorly with v4. Epicor wanted us to upgrade to v5 so we
would pay them for APS. We upgraded and now they say that
APS won't run with v5. Apparently you can try it but you're
on your own. Glad we didn't pay for it yet. I'm not being
negative about epicor or their products. I like vantage a
lot (dispite some huge bugs) and APS has some promise.
I just advocate a contract stating that they will get paid
when you have a working product.

I am really wondering if I purchased the right product. How can Epicor push
a product if it doesn't even work correctly?

Sorry to hear of all the problems people are having. I think I will just
sit with my version 4.0 for now. They seemed to have it running correctly
after 15 patches or so.

We got nervous when we looked at the Vantage contract and realized we were signing a commitment to not sue Epicor. Made us get mighty squirmy, and suspicious.

Add my name to the list of PO'd customers. We bought Vantage.net and the
additional service credits for installation, and were just getting ready to
try to install it since we recently upgraded to 4.0. This is ridiculous!
It's been in the field for over a year now. Epicor, what is the story here?

It was never touted as a BETA product to me. It was said to be a final
product AND that it was so easy to implement that service credits for
on-site set-up were not required. They also said they realized that
on-site
help was not required because most customers are doing it themselves now.
This implies to me that there are people using it? I have paid for the
product and no one is working with me to get it to work.

Kevin,

Who exactly told you this?
We purchased Vantage.net 10 months ago but have not installed it.
No one told us it was still in beta.
And if it is in beta then what do I have here?

Jeff

>>> kevink@... 03/01/01 12:54PM >>>
My understanding on Vantage.net is that it is in beta testing at this
time
at a LIVE customers site. I have been told it will take about three
more
weeks of testing (end of March early April) to get a better
understanding
on
how it works. I am very interested in this as well so I will be keeping
in
touch with the testing to see how it is going. I will let you know how
it
is going once I here.

Until then, wait patiently...

year was over on vantage.net so the stock holders could be happy. Please
epicor Stop and think what you are doing. You have a great Package don't
blow it. We don't want to have to scrap epicor and all of us buy M2Manage.

Add my name to the list of PO'd customers. We bought Vantage.net and the
additional service credits for installation, and were just getting ready to
try to install it since we recently upgraded to 4.0. This is ridiculous!
It's been in the field for over a year now. Epicor, what is the story here?

I am really wondering if I purchased the right product. How can Epicor push
a product if it doesn't even work correctly?

Sorry to hear of all the problems people are having. I think I will just
sit with my version 4.0 for now. They seemed to have it running correctly
after 15 patches or so.

If you working with 4gl the following does the trick:

string(time-field,"HH:MM:SS").

Haven't got a report Builder Book handy to check if it will work there as well.
