I had to buy a new computer with Windows 7 64 bit operating system on it. Loaded the Vista client on it and everything works except for one thing. It will not print out any crystal reports. the error we receive is Invalid Epicor Crystal XI R2 runtime installation. Talked to epicor support and there is no fix for this error and no workaround. Epicor tells me that Business Objects (SAP) is not planning to make a service pack for this error to have crystal work with the win7 platform. Epicor gave me the usual answer it is fixed in Epicor 9.

Has anyone out there found a fix for this situation. Since you can't buy a new computer with XP anymore everyone will have to upgrade to Epicor 9 just to print.

Try loading a newer version of the crystal runtime?

Where would I get a newer version of runtime?

How do I check what version I am running?

Why wouldn't Epicor pass on this info?

You can just download it from SAP/Business Objects site. It's free.

Go to appwiz.cpl, I believe that will show you the version.

Lord only knows why Epicor does the things they do.

SP6.4 is the latest that Epicor has for Crystal Reports XI runtimes: https://epicweb.epicor.com/Support/epicor9/downloads/Crystal%20904500/Crystal%20Reports%20XI%20R2%20.Net%203.0%20Runtime%20SP6.zip.aspx

Although it's technically listed under the Epicor 9.04 release. Since I started pushing the MSI, I've been using SP6.4 with 8.03.490A without any huge problems.

SP5 is the latest listed for Vista/Vantage: https://epicweb.epicor.com/Support/VantageVista/Downloads/Vantage%20803400/Crystal%20Reports%20XI%20R2%20.Net%203.0%20Runtime%20SP5.msi.aspx

Looks likes some of the other versions show up in Add/Remove Program with a generic 1.0.0 version, but both SP5 and SP6.4 show up properly if you have them installed.

Jason,

Thanks for the info

It took a little work and complaining to Epicor but I got it working under windows 7

I had to download and install crxir2_sp4_full_build.exe on the win7 computer then update it with crxir2win_sp6.exe

I can now print crystal reports from a computer running windows 7 64 bit operating system

If you call Epicor support on this they will tell you that it can't done and to upgrade to Epicor 9

Where did you get the crxir2_sp4_full_build.exe and crxir2win_sp6.exe files?
Thanks
Doug

They should be available directly from the crystal reports site.
