Windows 8 Blank Title 108089

Other than not being able to currently run the 32-bit Epicor 9.05 client, it is running very well. Spend most of my time in the desktop environment. Runs every other program that I had on Windows 7, just fine. Have 8 installed on my working machine.

I did the upgrade from 7, so I didn't have to reinstall anything.

I know that it is a little too early in the beta, but I have not been able to get Epicor 9 to run on Windows 8. Login comes up, and then sits on the logo. It just stops responding.

Just a little FYI to keep in the back of your minds, for those who buy new PCs often. Might be a big issue in the next year or so.

If anyone else has played with it, and got it to work, lemme know.

I'm not familiar with Epicor 9 but if it is using .net 3.5 or less you might have to enable it in Windows 8, "Turn Windows Features on or off", if you haven't
done so already.

I am currently running Vantage 6.1 on Windows 8cp 64bit. I have not done much other than open and view modules.

Windows 8 and the metro-style of the UI is slick. I can’t wait. It will be awesome to see what Epicor can do with the live tiles in the OS. I love the Live Tiles on my new Windows Phone; they can be very handy with bringing data straight to the frontline of visibility. I finally jumped ship from Blackberry a couple months ago after using them since 1999. Went with a new Windows Phone 7 device...... super slick OS.

I can’t believe you all are testing Epicor in Windows 8 already. Heck, I have roughly 100 boxes on my network and all but 5 are happily running Windows XP still. It works.

Awesome, another WP7 user!!

I was thinking the same thing with live tiles in windows 8. Would be really cool.

As soon as new Windows OS's are available, I install them on a spare laptop to see what issues we may encounter. Don't want to find out too late that things break. Most of our machines are Windows 7. Have a few still on Vista, and zero on XP.

Got E9.05.607a running on W8. Couple of little minor glitches but nothing major. If anything seems a touch quicker. Only had a look at a few of the trackers and a couple of the Crystal Reports but it's not bad as an early offering.

Ok, I did get E9 running on Windows 8. I have no clue why I didn't try to run it in compatability mode, in the first place. Running it with compatability mode set to Windows 7 worked. Seems to run fine now..

My 9.05 client was working fine on Windows 8 for a while. Then suddenly, the 32-bit client stopped working. The 64-bit client works fine, if you don't need to print anything in Crystal Reports. I haven't gotten around to troubleshooting the 32-bit client. yet.

That's been an issue since XP64.
*
*The usual solution is to delete all CCH files. It's an issue with .NET
stuff, not Epicor in particular.*

We have been testing windows 8 for our MES workstations. We have been running a program that strips explorer and just loads Epicor right away. Seems to be working great so far.
