Work in Process Report - WIP Cleared Status

Kinetic 2023.1.5
Hello
Since upgrading to release 11.2.300.5. we are having trouble running the Work In Process report when selecting “Yes” or “Both” in the WIP Cleared Status box.
The report is able to finish successfully with the WIP Cleared Status selected as “No”.

Anyone has any input on what these different selections show? Our accountant was told to always choose “Both” when running it.

I have created a case, but wondered if anyone had ever run into this.

Thank you
Silvia

Hi Silvia,
Did you ever get this issue resolved? I too am having the same problem.

Thanks,
Melinda

WIP Cleared is all the old jobs that have been captured through COS\WIP. It could be a timeout issue - either enough jobs that you can’t run all jobs anymore or there are some different timeout settings in the upgraded environment.

You should be able to run “No”, since it would be a “close” match to what is in your WIP GL. It won’t be exact unless you have a perfectly timed snap shot.

I never really recommended running Yes or Both, since Yes is already out of the WIP accounts. You can check specific job costs in the tracker or production report.

Hi JennL,
I’m in need of a detailed WIP report as of a certain date so I can reconcile that report to my G/L balance. Any recommendations on another way to go about this if the Work in Proces Report keeps timing out?

We ended up saving our reports into a process set with the Capture COS\WIP to start it off and ran it before midnight the day of close. The manual steps would be ideally done off hours, to minimize reconciling transactions:

  1. Run Capture\COS WIP - this should take all your closed jobs and post the transactions to remove them from your WIP account and move to COGS/variance.
  2. Run Work In Process report for “No” on cleared WIP.
  3. Run other reports for reconciling (e.g. Stock Status, Shipped Not Billed, Received Not Invoiced, etc.)

I believe there are some EpicCare knowledge articles on what to expect/tip and tricks for reconciling reports.

Did you get resolution on this? I’m wading through a similar mess.

What does the Epicor System Monitor say for that report? Is there an error message, or is it still/stuck running?

Note that it can take a pretty long time to run if you have Yes or Both selected, as it is checking all your jobs over many years. Ours takes about 10 minutes to pop up when we do that.
