In Vantage 8.00 we used a combo of XML output with ODBC in the Crystal
file. It worked for that, but is slow than having Vantage dump all the
data into the XML file. I'm glad to hear we're not the only customer
having this need.
In Vantage 8.03 I'm rewriting all our reports, but I can get the data I
need on the BOL or ARForm without using ODBC since the Report Data
Definition won't let me get to the data.
How were you able to add additional tables? The help file says you need
the SDK and when I do add additional tables it doesn't show up in the
XML output.
Thanks,
Randy Stulce

I tried that as well and didn't work, however, and I don't know of any
way to getting around ODBC (RDO or ADO). On some reports,I had to
duplicate an existing report definition before I could modify, add
tables etc.

Subject: [Vantage] XML Data Sources For Crystal Reports
Hello all,
We are planning our upgrade to Vantage 8.03 and I am trying to get my
mind around the new reporting options we now have available. I can
see how existing reports can easily be modified for additional
information using 'Report Data Definitions' and XML. If I were
wanting to write a brand new Crystal Report, is there any way to use
XML as the data source as opposed to ODBC? I was hoping it would be
as simple as creating the 'Report Data Definition', defining a 'Report
Style' that uses that definition, and then report against the
resulting XML file, but that doesn't seem to be working out for me
when I try to add the report to my menu. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam
