Yes, the client install leaves some to be desired. For us the client install requires a reboot of the workstation in the middle of the install, and then you have to skip the Progress part of the install when you restart the client setup the second time.
Also, there is an hh.exe file that can't be found that you have to search through c:\windows to find, and then point back to the regular temp folder that is created for the setup to finish. Still can be done in under 5 minutes, but takes some hands-on, and knowing user's logon passwords because of the reboot.

Other than the fact that it was supposed to fix some issues with previous
versions and it doesn't, it works.

I've been sitting on V5 for a long time. I see that a few more have
installed over the weekend. What's the vote? Is it safe enough to bet my
livelihood on? (That's what it amounts to.) We're a small company with 6
full licenses and 6 data collection licenses. No remote sites or TT5s. We
do use the full package. Any gotchas? Wait another month?

I am waiting. We're small also, 10 licenses, and we don't use any of the
shop modules. And yes that renewal invoice is a hoot.

Epicor has said they are concentrating on 5.0 fixes at the expense of
pushing 5.1 back a bit. This indicates to me they don't mean to release 5.1
until they are confident 5.0 is stable so my feeling is to wait until I see
5.1 released. Then I will cautiously consider 5.0. Last I heard 5.1 was
tenative for August so perhaps I am looking at 5.0 for a Labor Day weekend
project around Sept 1-3. We have no pressing needs for 5.0 so we can afford
to wait since as you say the "bet" is significant.

We upgraded two weekends ago. Only two problems have shown up, and Epicor
tech support provided quick and easy fixes or workarounds.

I've heard more compliments from our users on this release than criticisms.
That certainly was quite different from how it was with the last upgrade.

The only problems were found were in using the new ODBC driver. I
eventually went back to the old driver.
