5.1 Conversion

The password is "CHANGESCHEMA". It is listed in the upgrade
documentation.

Good Morning,

We are in the process of converting to 5.2.
According to tech support, this should be done incrementally.
Has anyone in our group gone through this, and documented the process?
We attempted once, but ran into a problem at the data schema change, it
prompted for a password.
Of course, we did not have the password, and had to revert back to 5.0.
By
the way, we still have no password.

Before proceeding again, I would like to have a process.
One concern is Progress. Do we need to uninstall the old version before
installing new.

Regarding Vantage, do we need to install to a new directory and move the
data over?
Or, do we install on top of previous versions?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Pablo Garza

I thought the password was always: CHANGESCHEMA on those.
Going from 4.0 to 5.20 step by step I ended up with folders for each version
(Epicor, Epic50, Epic51 and Epic52) and a database in each one, but as I got
beyond I deleted the older ones. I made a backup after each version was
completed and tested. Last week I posted a list of steps I followed (in
addition to the instructions for each version).

With allot of work, progress for 5.1 and 5.2 can be on the same server. We went with a different server, if possible it's the best way. If you use the same server, you will need to create a new folder "Epic52". You can download these instructions for Epicor.

Good Luck

Jim

Pablo,

I am going thru the process now. I am at the patches for progress and
vantage now.

But the password for the schema changes are CHANGESCHEMA. Once you
have ran the schema changes, the first time you open Vantage, you will
need to do a database conversion - this requires that you log on as the
manager (of Vantage).

So far, my upgrading has been painless. I went from Vantage 4.0 to 5.2
without any "major" problems. So far any problems that I incurred have
been typing mistakes.
