Thanks Charles. This sounds exactly like my problem. I was wondering if you are experiencing any of the other problems I've seen with the configurator in 406?
1. The configurator summary screen shows all inputs, even those marked as don't show in the summary.
2. Setting values in the MOM material shows up in the MOM of the newly created part, but when I try to change the value of the Production Standard on an operation it doesn't change on the MOM of the part. It does change if you get details of the part in a job or quote. It just does not show correctly when you view the part method.
3. All operations in the configured part method display as "Time and Quantity" reqardless of how they are set in the master part. If you pull the MOM into a job or quote using get details then it displays the correct value.
4. When saving a configured part (hitting save in the configurator), the process runs twice. Even if you run a test inputs it appears that the save process runs twice because you get the popups twice. Regardless of how you set your configurator, it will always prompt at least once that the configured part already exists in the part master table, even when it doesn't. I believe this is because the configurator is running twice after a save, the first pass creates the part, and the second pass sees that the part has already been created and configured so it throws out the prompt (ignoring the "do not prompt" setting in the configurator).

I submitted this issue in February. It has been there since version 8 came out but I only got around to researching the problem then. There is SCR50565 for this. The problem lies in the number of keep when rules that are in the configuration. In the past, everything after the 79th keep when rule will be included in the configuration. You are the 1st person I am aware of that has also had this problem. It was originally supposed to fixed in 8.03.406 but it now shows it was fixed in 8.03.407 which is due out the 18th of November.
I am surprised that tech support is not aware of this issue unless it was determined your problem is not the same.

Subject: [Vantage] 8.03.406 and op rules
I have a real killer of a situation. Everything was going fine in the
creation of our configuration until I entered operations 560 and
greater. All operations 560 and greater are being pulled into my
method even though the keep when rules should not be doing this.
Even stranger is that when I do a test of the role rules in the
configurator, the report doesn't even list any Operation rules for
operations 560 and above.
I am working with tech support on this, but so far haven't gotten
anywhere with them.
I was wondering if anyone else has seen anything similar?
