Jonathan,
It will go down the part list. It won't repeat an 'A' part until you've counted all the parts at least once.

Does the ABC Count choose part by random or does it go right down the part list?

Jonathan:
I don't know about 407A, but at least in 6.1, the problem with the parts showing up again for the next cycle count is that we didn't count every single warehouse location that the part existed in. Check your "Count Date" in your warehouse screen for each warehouse to make sure they've all been updated. I added that field to our part tracker warehouse screen so it is easy for our cycle counter/inventory people to check. Again, we're on 6.1 so this could be different for you.

Hope that helps!

Good Morning all,

I have an issue with Count Entry and Blank Tags.

ABC Code Maintenance has the information for each A, B, C, and D, no problem there. When we go to Count Entry, Count Groups, put in the Limit Number of Selected Parts say 100 we have 2 problems.

1. We get blank tags. All the have is the Tag Num
2. When we do a count one day and post then do a new count the second day we get the same Selected Parts as we did the day before. For example:

Monday I create a group called "Why Me". I selected the Limit Number of Selected Parts and entered 10. Printed the Tags( Which are blank, but for the sake of argument) and waited for the actual count. Finally i get to Post.

Tuesday I create another group called "Here I Go Again". I selected Limit Number of Selected Parts and entered 10. I get the same 10 parts as I had on Monday.

My Minimum Volume is set as Follows: 99,999.99, 5,000.00, 1,000.00, 500.00, .01

Count Frequency is set as follows:10, 30, 60, 75 and 190.

Any Ideas?

This is what caused the issue for us. After all of the parts "cycled" trough the many counts, the last group kept re-appearing.

Re-calauclating "fixed" this for us. We then set the recalc process to a schedule and it has worked ever since.

no problem. Changing settings in ABC code maintenance will, by itself, do nothing until you do the "Calculate" process.
Any time you do changes, be sure to follow it right up with the Calculate process.
to give you an idea of how long it might take, we have a mid-level SQL Server, 450,000 parts, and it takes roughly 1 hour.

Jonathan:

It goes right down the part list until you get things more mixed up - like adding parts in manually. After the ABC code, it's that count date that matters. If someone asks the cycle counter/inventory folks here to count something special - they create a count group for it, just so it gets back into the regular cycle and doesn't come up in a group in a few days again.
