Altec DocLink, Paper to Electronic, Advice Required

I’m posting this in the E10 category, which while not strictly an E10 question I think I’ll get the best response here.

The business I work for, which is using V8, has hit a point where enough of our customers now wish to receive their AR invoices etc. as a PDF via e-mail (and over time the market we sell into will go this way for the majority of invoicing). At the moment we’re paper based, with the odd printed invoice being scanned and e-mailed as required.

Over the years I’ve attended a full presentation by a rep from Altec about DocLink, and worked with a very basic installation of it licensed as APM from Epicor, so I understand what it can do (and how we as a business could potentially use it to store and manage all paper documentation).

Now however we can also throw into the mix docSTAR, the DMS purchased by Epicor, but this appears to be a less mature and less feature rich product than DocLink ?

At the moment though everything is telling me that as a business DocLink is right for us, to manage our AR invoice submissions to customers via e-mail with approvals + workflow + archiving (with the client on some users computers), and then as time progresses dragging into it all inbound and outbound traditionaly paper documents. Is there anything out there that genuinely blows DocLink out of the water, and that is vendor agnostic ? (even though Epicor do resell DocLink as APM it can be used with anything that can print / accept PDF etc.).

In the distant past the business I work for purchased APM, of course just like many other Epicor customers they were sold it but never bothered to install or use it and just sit there paying annual maintenance, however considering this will be a clean install of Doclink and how docSTAR is guaranteed to be Epicor’s preferred solution I’m thinking go direct to Altec to get the full version of DocLink and work with them ?

Thanks.

APM is great, not difficult to setup. The emails can be formatted nicely with html to look professional. We did not use the document management peice, only email routing.

We have made the move to Advanced Document Routing in E10 after our upgrade from V8.

We use DocLink it has it’s own little tricky things you have to know how to work around, but it works well and 3.0 is fairly reliable. Like Bryan mentioned it’s fairly easy to use, for setup I recommend having Epicor do that there are COM Component config edits that need to be made and until you have seen it done a few times can cause more trouble than it’s worth.

We have APM Plus and since it was setup, it just works. There have been very few times I have needed to work on issues with it.
