Auto logon for Terminal Server Clients

Thank you Brian. This worked just fine as soon as I put in the
mfg.exe.

We are trying to get the auto logon to work with our Terminal
Server. We have a network drive mapped for Vantage in our normal
logon script. The drive maps as "V". On the Program tab on the
Remote Desktop Connedction, I have the following:

Under "Start the following Program on connection" V:\BMKR61.MFG
Under "Program path and file name" V:\

I get the following error:
An error (193)occured while creating user logon.
This initial program connot be started: V:\MMKR61.MFG
Please consult help for more information

I have tried many different options here and keep getting the same
error code (193) no matter what I put in. The only difference is
the "This initial program...." will be different, depending upon what
I have typed in.

We want to do this so that the users can not "accidently" shutdown
the server. The will just see the vantage program and when the log
out the Terminal Server connection will close completely.

If anyone has successfully accomplished this, please advise how you
did this...please.

We are using Windows Terminal Server 2003.

Thank you in advance.

Kelly
I wasn't able to do it through RDC either, but you can do it under the
Environment tab for each remote user and that seems to work fine.

We do have the Plant Floor interface lauching automatically through
some Terminal Server and Remote Desktop Connection icons.

We have the following in our program path.

v:\mfgsys61\mfg.exe v:\mfgsys61\tsplantfloor.mfg

I think the important thing that you're missing is the launch of
mfg.exe. It isn't obvious that you need to do that and took a while
for us to figure out, but when we did it starting working. Calling
the .mfg file itself isn't enough.

There's a setting, not sure where, to disallow "Restart" and "Shut Down",
for all but network administrators, if you like.

On the Terminal Server under Administrative tools \ Local Security
Settings \ Local Policy \ User Right Assignment \ Shut down the system
you can add only the user you want to have the rights to Shut down or
restart the system.

Hope this helps.
