Todd, if you are using Vantage w/ Progress OpenEdge DB, I uploaded a
file with illustrated instructions for doing this. It was easier for me
to create and upload a file than trying to explain verbally.

I had a consultant write a report viewer App that is a visual basic
program that uses a file dsn - auto connects to the database

Prompts the user for any inputs and displays the report with the ability
to export it or print it

The report viewer uses a text file (description and report name) or a
command line via a short cut

User do not need to be logged into vantage to run it.

I am sure that he would be willing to sell it again

Let me know if you are interested and I will give you contact
information.

If you are looking for a DSN login (datasource ODBC), you can do
this with a connection string as follows.
When setting a datasource location choose ODBC and instead of using
a defined machine or datasource, select "enter a connection string"
and then type:
DSN=<name>;HOST=<server>;PORT=<####>;DB=mfgsys;UID=sysprogress;PWD=sy
sprogress
This string assumes that your db file is mfgsys and that the user id
and password id sysprogress.

If you are just trying to access the file itself, you may be able to
create a shortcut and add username\password or username/password to
the command line.
