Breaking up database

Hello Kevin,

Separating the Progress extents only improves performance if you put the newly created extents on separate I/O subsystems. If you break them up but leave them on the same I/O device you will not see any improvement. The split extent is the primary progress mechanism for dealing with installations with hundreds or even thousands of users. It just doesn't do much if there is not the underlying hardware to support it.

Regards,

Michael

Does anyone have the documentation on how to break up the Vantage database into multiples? D1,d2,d3, b1,b2,b3 etc. I understand this can vastly improve the performance in each given area. Quoting, Purchasing and so forth. Vantage 6.0.529  Progress 91d

Thanks in advance,
Kevin
