Card Reader for Clock-in/Clock-out

Vic,

I would be interested in taking a look at the customization.

Thanks,

Mike

We are on 8.03.409a and would like to have a card reader setup in our plant instead of a PC with Vantage MES on it. First, is this even possible with 409a, second can anyone recommend a good inexpensive way to do this? All input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike
If you want to clock in/clock out with MES, you're either going to
have to 1) run the MES client, or 2) implement some sort of custom
application that replicates the BO calls that the MES client is
performing, either via Web Services or .NET DLL calls directly.

I don't know if there are methods exposed for the MES actions or not.
Anyone?

Vantage supports (and we use) card readers with the Labor
Collection/Gateway module in Vantage 6.1 that Epicor did away with in
Vantage 8. They claim the same thing can be done in Vantage 8 and above
using Service Connect.

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
I do have a VERY dumbed down customization of MES that we initially used for simple clockins/outs when we went live. The user would walk up to the MES touchscreen, barcode scan their badge, press a big fat button on the screen that says "CLOCK IN" and immediately walk away and likewise for Clocking out.

I'd be happy to send anyone the customization. We ended up not using it in the long run as having 85 shop floor employees lined up at one terminal in the beginning and end of the day just didn't make sense. So we use MES the way it's intended now.
