Crystal Preview different from Vantage Preview

That did it! I copied crpe32.dll (version 8.01.xx ) from my PC to the
Vantage\DLL folder (after renaming the version 7.0 file there as something
else) and the report now works both on my PC and when run from Vantage. I
decided this test might be faster than exporting the report.

My weekend is saved. Now I can go to the Minnesota State Fair and devote
full concentration to batter fried candy bars on a stick!

Thanks Dan and Wayne,
Wayne may be on to something because of the 8.5 trivails I had awhile back.
I think I have some 8.5 DLLs hanging around on my PC. Even though I
completely (as much as possible) removed 8.5 and re-installed 8.0 I still
had to install the patch that makes 8.5 work in order to get PO line
releases to print. So I probably have some crazy mix of versions on my PC
and it is definitely different from the server.

Dan, your suggestion to export a test version of the report and run from
another PC will probably confirm the above.

I am hesitant to copy the DLLs from my PC to the Vantage DLLs but may have
to do so to keep the server coordinated with my PC where the modificaitons
are being done.

Thanks again,
-Todd C.

Todd are you going to a dot matrix printer? I got this reponse from Crystal
last January (remember when it was well below Zero here?)
I had this problem before got the following response from Seagate.

The issue with Dot Matrix printers and Crystal is this. A dot matrix

prints line by line, while Crystal prints using Metapage. This is why

when printing Crystal reports using a dot matrix printer often the

formatting will be altered as the two formats are not very compatible.

The way to workaround this is to export your report to a test file and

print it from that file. In this manner you will be printing from a

compatible format.

If the issue persists, or if there is anything else that either someone or

myself here can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact us, we

will gladly help you further. Take care! =)

I have been struggling with the for two days so it's time to seek help from
experts.

On the Job Traveler I have inserted a bitmap image of a box in which to
date, initial and enter piece counts. This is on the same line as the bar
codes for the Sequence, Work Center and Operation. It works great when I
preview it in Crystal but when previewed or printed from Vantage it prints
this image several times at the start of the materials section and once
after. The bar codes do not print except where they are supposed to, for
each operation.

I guess my biggest question is why it previews differently when run from
Vantage as opposed to what I see in Crystal when maintaining the report. I
have tried everything I can think of to make it print only where I want it
to. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Do you have the same version of the Crystal DLLs on the Vantage server as
on your development machine? The early Crystal 7.0 files from Seagate and
Epicor had some flaky problems that were fixed with various patches. But I
always had to manually copy the files over to Vantage\DLL after updating my pc.

You might try doing a "fit section" on the band with your graphics, and
check off the "keep together" on both the graphic and the section.

Todd,
There are suppression formulas for most of the fields in the
traveler. Check the suppression formula on a field in the same section and
try setting the suppression the same way.
