Crystal Print problem

It must have something to do with the fonts, as you say. But even when I paste a text box that says "Send to:" and it prints fine, if I simply stretch the box without changing the text or any attributes it will not print. Strange behaviour to me.

I did get something to print with a workaround - I went into Microsoft Paint, made a bitmap with the Remit to: address, and plopped it on the report. It looks ugly, but it works.

I was also just told that the text box used to print on this printer, and now it doesn't. I don't get it.

I really doubt that this is it but maybe. I have text boxes that print on
my Okidata printers. Check to make sure that the font and size you are
using isn't different. If you copy paste and it prints you are likely
copying and pasting all the properties. Crystal loads a default font that
may not be compatible with the dot matrix. I doubt it makes a difference
but you may want to check it.

Here's the latest puzzlement on Printing simple text. If I copy and paste
text from elsewhere in the report, the newly pasted text prints fine on the
dot matrix from Vantage. If I modify my newly pasted text at all, it
disappears. Why why why????

We modified the Crystal report "arform.rpt" and added a simple text box for a "Remit to:" address. For some reason the box is empty (no text) when it is printed to the Epson LQ dot matrix printer. It prints fine on laser printers.

Anyone have a solution for printing the text box on a dot matrix?

I had this problem before got the following response from Seagate.

The issue with Dot Matrix printers and Crystal is this. A dot matrix
prints line by line, while Crystal prints using Metapage. This is why
when printing Crystal reports using a dot matrix printer often the
formatting will be altered as the two formats are not very compatible.
The way to workaround this is to export your report to a test file and
print it from that file. In this manner you will be printing from a
compatible format.
If the issue persists, or if there is anything else that either someone or
myself here can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact us, we
will gladly help you further. Take care! =)

Hope this helps

I've had trouble too, getting text boxes to print with matrix printers.

Try changing it to several individual lines of text; usually cures it.

I changed the text box from several lines to one line. It won't even print one line of text for some reason (although the rest of the report has tons of text that prints fine from fields). I CAN print the same form directly from Crystal Designer to the dot matrix printer, but NOT from Vantage.

What am I missing? Or what is Vantage missing?

I had a similar problem with a logo image. Printed to HP 8000 laser but not
HP 2100 laser. Printed fine on 2100 when testing from Designer but not from
Vantage. I changed from .jpg image to .bmp and it started working from
Vantage. Chalked it up to printer memory but that might not have been the
cause. There is definitely something in Vantage and how it deals with
printers.
