We print our Bill of Ladings to a multi part form on a dot matrix
printer.
That's a Crystal form but nothing fancy. No logo, no fancy fonts,
shading
, or anything.

Has anybody successfully printed multipart stationary on a dot

through Crystal on an OKI Microline 395b. The problem we face is
that other programmes such as Report Builder because we're using an
OKI it presents the utility fonts (the ones supported by the printer

use these fonts so if we try and print the Oki prints it in graphics
mode so it takes an eternity.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Before switching to Vantage we used multipart forms for our invoices, packing lists, PO's, etc. (just about everything)

Now we don't use them at all.
It caused instant culture shock. We just kept asking, "why do you need this piece of paper if the data is available from Vantage", over and over again.
Besides just trying to fix the printing problem, investigate the question "Do we really need the multipart form".
Don't just don't take "yes I need" it as an instant answer, try to get a GOOD justification.

We replaced three different forms with the Vantage Job Traveler
Two were "handwritten" and one was a multipart form.
So now we save a page or three on every job we generate.
Of course there is also the other multiparts which we no longer use on a job.
When an actual form is required, we print it on a laser.

Example:
A Packing List
White Copy (Top Page, Record copy)
Print on the laser.
Yellow Copy (Goes with the shipment)
Print on the laser.
Green Copy (accounting copy)
no longer use
Pink copy (shippers copy)
no longer use
Blue Page (I can't remember what this page was for)
no longer use

This is not to say that people still won't want their paper, but if you can get rid of just a little, it always helps.

Crystal and many other windoze programs query the print driver to see what
fonts it supports, and will only offer those. First easy thing to try is
setting the printer to draft print quality in its default settings in the
windoze driver. Make sure you've selected that printer within Crystal and
see if it offers fixed pitch fonts.

If that doesn't work, you can try using the "generic / text only" print
driver. Dig out the printer's manual and find the control codes needed to
select the different font sizes you want, and enter those in the driver's
properties. Then Crystal should show fixed fonts (IIRC, they're named like
"Roman 10CPI")
