Crystal Reports 8.5 compiled reports not exporting to Excel

I do think Gary was probably thinking of me. I have been talking to
Epicor about this, and they sent me a "sort of related" document
which suggested comparing the workstation and Vantage server dll
files -- p2bxbse.dll and msvcp60.dll. The versions were out of
whack, so I copied the server versions to my workstation, as the
document suggested, but it did not help. One of the techs at Epicor
is working with one of my reports to try to find a solution.

I always flag the DLL's for exporting.

What about Windows hot fixes? Could that be a source of problems
with the dll's?

Hi all,

I'm having problems compiling Crystal Reports to my users'
workstations, as well as having performance problems running
compiled reports myself. The background is that:

* We're on Vantage 6.1
* Using Crystal Report 8.5 with the Report Distribution Expert.
* Our company has been slowly replacing PC's, and mine was replaced
in mid-December. My PC has Windows XP Professional.
* I'm trying to compile reports for older and newer workstations.

When I compile a report and test it at my own workstation, I am able
to print to a window, export to Excel from the window (in some
cases, and in some cases not). I cannot export from the opening
dialog box -- I get an error saying "Print Engine Error: Error in
File C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\Distributed Reports\PAP Sales
Report-compile test.rpt: Parameter has invalid structure size." In
SOME cases, this same error appears without the report even
running. In OTHER cases, these reports CAN export from the opening
dialog box on older PC's.

On one of the new PC's, trying to export to excel from the "print
preview" window, produces this error, "An unhandled win32 exception
occurred in crrun32.exe [2372]."

I have screen shots of the errors if anyone wants to see them, but I
was unable to attach any here.

Epicor has been unable so far to come up with the solution, but they
believe it has to do with the .dll's.

Has anyone had this happen, or have any suggestions? (And PLEASE
feel free to ask for clarification.)

Thanks,

Hi Theresa,

I have had similar issues too. The strange thing is that it isn't consistent, some days I can export without a problem, other days not. One thing that does work for me is to export to a .CSV file and then convert that to excel. The error messages I get are different though, I get a message that says "crystal reports has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience...."

Some things I've tried that sometimes seem to help:

1. Refresh data, save report, close Crystal. Restart Crystal, open report, but don't refresh, and then export.
2. Conversely, don't save data with report, close crystal, restart crystal then export.
3. Remove/hide header and footer, and tab stops at the top and sides of the report

I also am running these on my own PC with Crystal 8.5 2.718.

If you find a solution please let me know, it might help my problem too!

Thanks,

Liz

On one of the new PC's, trying to export to excel from the "print

I have screen shots of the errors if anyone wants to see them, but I

believe it has to do with the .dll's.

Has anyone had this happen, or have any suggestions? (And PLEASE

I cannot remember to hand, but it might be worth checking all the dll's
especially the ones beginning with cr

When you distributed your reports did you flag 'DLL's for exporting'

Subject: [Vantage] Re: Crystal Reports 8.5 compiled reports not
exporting to Excel

Liz:

I've had that problem since Day One here, and just try to slog
through it. Even my predecessor warned me and was never able to
solve it. I've tried all your suggestions over the past two years.
I've also tried exporting to different versions of Excel. Sometimes
it works, sometimes it doesn't. But that's on reports that I've
either already successfully compiled, or reports I'm just running
straight from the Crystal application.

This new problem is that I can't even compile reports so they can be
run across others varying systems, and I know that it's because I
myself have a new system. I can compile reports for use on ONE
guy's system so far. I just don't know the difference - yet.

Anyway ,boy, did I appreciate your response! Nobody here believes
me. They all think it's just me. It's good to hear I'm not alone.

I'll keep at it. And I'll let you know if I ever fix the first
aggravation.

Thanks for the validation,
Theresa

I haven't actually tried distributing these. We have had a lot of problems getting that to work. I'm getting the problem on my own machine with Crystal installed on it.

(or were you thinking of Theresa on the second sentence?)

I cannot remember to hand, but it might be worth checking all the dll's
especially the ones beginning with cr

When you distributed your reports did you flag 'DLL's for exporting'

Gary

Hi Gary,

Do you have the exact name of the DLL? I looked, but I didn't unless
it's abbreviated funny.

Make sure you have the crystal excel export dll in the system32
directory and it is the same version as the workstation that works
