Customer not filterable without downloading in Order but not Quote

The landing page for Quote will not show filtering options for Customer, BillTo, etc fields. But for Order I am able to filter by Customer without downloading. None of these are UD fields which maybe I could understand but our end-users are super unhappy about this.

Hi Spencer,

Based on the look of the screen, do you guys access Kinetic via the browser?

I just checked our Op/Quote screen to see if the filtration works on our end, and I can see all of the fields.

Are there any UD customizations on the page/is this a modified version of the default screen? I know you mentioned the fields aren’t, but I’m curious if anything else UD is causing the conflict.

Try to download all the records. They give you a button for that now. If, once all downloaded, you can filter by those fields, then at least you can do it.

They also gave us an option to change the default number of records downloaded upon opening the form (in the overflow menu). So, you could attempt to increase that number to something greater than your total number of quotes, save, save layout, etc.

Exit… come back… see if you can filter right off the bat. The downside is it will take longer to load your screen. But depending on the number of records, it may be advantageous.

Yup, we are using the browser, not the desktop client. But, it still happens in the client as well.

We do have UD fields but I didn’t pull them or personalize them for me. Plus, I have it set up as the default columns from Epicor. We have not customized the landing page but we have for the actual quote and order screen

Unfortunately, that’s only a temporary workaround. I need to be able go back to my users and give them an actual fix.

I have the default from Epicor set to 500 and we are still below 500 Quotes. I even changed it to 1,000 and still, the filters aren’t searchable without downloading.

Gotcha. This is a weird one for sure. I imagine this is affecting multiple users on various workstations as well?

Doesn’t seem like this would be caused by anything UD/customized then.

We had this issue early on and we tried everything referenced in this KB that Epicor has out for the issue, but it still didn’t resolve it. You already completed the steps it references by downloading/increasing the maximum number of records as well so I imagine you’ve seen this already but just in case it helps in some way:

KB0134527

https://epiccare.epicor.com/epiccare?id=epiccare_kb_article&sys_id=dd10358b83360250b25793647daad335

I may be misremembering, but I’m pretty sure how we fixed it in the short term was a bit of a hail Mary. Have you tried dragging any of the fields more to the left in the row? One of our user’s did this by mistake when they were showing us the issue and it actually caused the field to load correctly. So basically, we just had them moving the Customer, Name, Bill to Customer fields over to the left to get the text area to appear correctly. See the screenshot below for reference:

This may or may not still work, but worth a try if it’s an effective workaround for the time being. Eventually, our fields just started to work normally again after we upgraded.

It is affecting anyone on any computer for Quote Entry/Tracker, Order Entry/Tracker, and Shop Tracker (which we have not customized).

That KB mentions how the columns need to be on the base layer for filtering to work which means I guess that Customer is on the base layer for Order but not Quote.

Love the hail mary but just tried and didn’t work.

This must be 1 hell of an upgrade I feel like this is the 10th bug I’ve come across that will be fixed. We used our flex option and delayed till August which might not have been a good idea hindsight being 20/20.

But at least it’s an answer of some kind vs this is expected behavior and what’s the big deal having to hit the download button every time /s

Replying that our Pilot just got upgraded to 2024.1.8 (we used our Flex option) and columns like Customer in Quote are still not able to filtered unless you manually download all the records.

The response from Epicor and marked as “Suggested Resolution”

This was previously reported to our Development team and confirmed this is due to a framework limitation with progressive loading grids found on these landing pages.
Since filtering was not possible, in order to help provide an option for filtering, the function to download records was added to these screens.
Our teams continue to work on grid improvements with each upcoming version.

I think I just got told that it is working as intended and no planned change will happen. So, I guess I’ll have to tell Sales to upvote the only 2 open Ideas I found regarding filters needing to be available before download. Then, wait patiently and restructure their workflow in the meantime.
