Dashboard / BAQ classic to kinetic question

It’s me again  in the looney world of converting classic to kinetic.

I’m starting to convert all of our dashboards to Kinetic. We have several that have parameters, publish, rules, etc…

My question is for complex dashboards do you have to first convert the BAQ’s from classic to kinetic, then convert the dashboards. I know it sounds like a silly question, but from what I’ve seen the BAQ’s have to be done a whole different way if they have parameters on them.

Your BAQs are fine, but interacting with them in App Studio can be an adventure.

Sometimes you might want to restructure.

We are all in looney land with you.

When converting to Kinetic, I usually try generating the app through classic dashboard maintenance first, sometimes it works. But with more complex pub-sub setups, I usually end up rebuilding the app from scratch.

Don’t do it… Your dataviews get given suffixes with numbers.. And some events etc get locked.

Best suggestion is using the post from Michael and Trudy

I’ve tried to use their template but it won’t load in my environment. We are on 2023.2.19

Of course, I might be doing something stupid, but the copy application zip fails to copy into the environment.

I might have a downgraded version leave it with me

What do you mean by “it won’t load?” Are you getting an error?

It throws an error. I’ll need to try it again to capture the error.

Try again with this version of Copy Application.

Did you select the option to overwrite existing files?

Yes ma’m.

It may be because it doesn’t work in older versions. You could try adding the function manually like in this post - Copy Application in Application Studio - Code Review / Sharing - Epicor User Help Forum.

Failing that, you can export the template, unzip it and make some updates to the JSON file, and then import the modified app. This is how we used to do it, before Michael wrote the Copy App. Here are the instructions to do it the old way:
IAIDashboardTemplateInstructions.pdf (238.2 KB)

sigh… we need to upgrade to a newer version.

Thank you tpouge, but I can’t find ice.UIDbd.DashboardTemplate in application studio.

Any other suggestions?
