DMT and Inventory Transfer

Found the problem... right at my own doorstep.

I had uploaded a number of Inventory Transfers via DMT on 2/1, but it turns out that the file I uploaded was at least 2 weeks old, so naturally inventory levels had changed. Epicor will allow the DMT to bring a bin to a negative stock level even if the Part Class that part belongs to has a "Stop" flag, and that once a part actually GOES negative it can stay negative and move all around.

Now to fix the issues with as little further harm as possible...

9.04.507A SQL

Ran a DMT session (2 weeks ago, just finding all these things out now) to move some parts around into different bin locations, and now some issues:

Several Part Classes that have a "Stop" on negative inventory are not Stopping anymore.

Several part numbers are showing negative quantities in the bins FROM which I transferred them, even though that bin is no longer the Primary Bin as defined in Part > Plants > Warehouses.

Part Transaction History shows the CORRECT STK-STK transactions.

PartWhse.OnHandQty is the same as the sum of PartBin.OnHandQty for each part number (we only have one warehouse, but several parts are in multiple bins, moreso now).

A little lost, any ideas?

Ernie,

Please run conversion 6430 then try again
If you still have issues
Verify if you caused the parts to go negative with the STK-STK transactions?
Next
Confirm with a new part if the part class negative handling is working or not.
Finally
If this still doesn't correctly escalate to technical solutions group at Epicor and someone will investigate for you.

Stephen,

Thanks for the reply. I had thought that since PartWhse and the sum of the PartBins were equal, 6430 would not help, but I didn't try it... it's running now. We had a big problem with that a year or so ago, and I created a report to tip me off (I still run it before month-end just to keep my controller happy, but it hasn't been off for quite some time).

I'll let you know how it turns out.

Running 6430 had no effect.

My testing so far indicates (with "Stop" set at the Part Class level) that when a part is already has a negative QOH, it will allow it to stay negative (it can change from -50 to -30 OR to -80 OR to +50)... but if a part has a positive QOH, it will not allow it to go negative (can go from +50 to +30 OR +80 BUT NOT -1).

I have to step through PartTran more closely to see exactly what happened. This is affecting at least 50 part numbers.

My controller was out yesterday and I can't WAIT to spring this on him today!

Thanks again,
