Edge Agent for Safari?

Does a Macintosh user running Kinetic in Safari (or Chrome for that matter), need an Edge agent or something similar?

Yes. There’s a macOS download from the Company Maintenance overflow menu - or if you try to print from Safari and don’t have EdgeAgent installed, it should prompt you.

I have not had any luck with it. I can get it installed, but when I try to print, I keep getting permission errors (viewable in the EdgeAgent debug) and nothing will print.

What Chris said! We use macs and have it running!

Thanks @spaceage! I’ll hopefully remember this next week when I’m onsite…

To clarify - you do not NEED the edge agent to print. YOu need the edge agent to send a file directly to a client printer without user interaction. If you do not want to install the edge agent on a mac - you can use the print preview feature to get your report in PDF format then you can open and print it directly as a user from your PDF viewer.

Not saying it is a great workflow - if it was we would not have gotten the edge agent involved in printing  but it does work.

You also need it to attach anything yeah?

Only if you are using the attachment type: File System and doing client side file transfer.

this is a very popular configuration for our cloud customers that do not want to use a paid service such as ECM, Sharepoint, Google Drive or Dropbox.

If you are doing server side transfer of file attachments you do not need the edge agent either.
