Entry Grid App Studio

Hello, I am fairly new to Epicor and am focused on upgrading our classic customizations to Kinetic. In classic, we have a custom page, and in the provided screenshot, it shows we have a custom table that can have data entered into it that directly relates and updates the parameters above it. The whole page seems to be using UD08 Keys and ShortChars, and I am having a rough time just getting a grasp of implementing this table along with connecting it to UD08 and above parameters in Application Studio. Would anyone have an idea of where to start to implement this panel card grid to be editable / input-able data to be saved or just any tips in general?

You’ll need to add UD08 as a DataView in App Studio.
Then you can bind controls/fields to the new DataView.

For updating UD08 I’d go with a function and you’ll need Event(s) in App Studio to call the function.

I know this will sound like a non-answer… but my advice would be to either buy some consultant hours from Epicor, or find an independent consultant that would be willing.

Tell them you have a Classic customization you need to uplift to Kinetic, but that you want to do the work live over a Teams call (or whatever) and treat it like a training session. Have them explain what they’re doing… you have direct access to a consultant to ask questions and gain understanding… you get to witness stuff being built in App Studio.

Yes, it will cost money, but if you’re relatively new to Epicor and App Studio, it would be money well spent. And if your company is using Classic and know you have to convert to Kinetic, they should also understand there could be costs involved. At least this way you’re not just paying for the work, you’re getting experience out of it too.

Its a good way to both get one or two of your customizations knocked out AND gain training. There are some good consultants out there that will walk you through the process… and even have you drive and they’ll walk/talk you through it. Before you know it, you’ll be doing it yourself.

That sounds like a great idea, thanks! Definitely would be money well spent especially with this forced upgrade come May.
