Epicor Diversification - Good, Bad or neutral for Vantage sites?

I think epicor single biggest problem is lack of focus.

I can't see what benefits it would confer to Vantage per se. If anything,
it can provide a distraction to the senior management at the company if they
have any hiccups or headaches with the transition. It seems like they were
able to secure the management at CRS which should help transition. The real
rub will be if the existing CRS management will play ball by Epicor's rules.

For all you Jim Collins fans out there: What is Epicor better at than
anyone else in the world in their particular industry segment? How does
this acquisition fit in with making them better at whatever they do? I went
to my first perspectives in October and had a little trouble understanding
what Epicor's hedgehog is. It seems they like to chase a little of this and
a lot of that.

Is it just me or are there others out there who view news like this as a
distraction from the "core" product lines like Vantage? I know that
presumably they acquired CRS Retail Systems to make Epicor stronger and I do
like the idea of a larger more stable company to backup the long term
viability of Vantage...but on the other hand, when things are going as rough
as they seem to be for Vantage 8.0 and there seems to be a lack of focus on
their existing customers this acquisition could be a huge distraction at the
top. Maybe they can acquire some .Net skills from CRS to lend to Vantage
programming.

At the very least they'll have to figure out yet another new color of
tablecloth for Perspectives. ;)

BTW - I no longer own EPIC shares but might again in the future.
