Hi, We are currently using a 3rd party software broker company to pick the best carrier, print out our BOL’s and supposedly save us all kinds of money. We are not 100% happy with our current broker and wanted to reach out to see what others are doing for shipping for Epicor Kinetic in the Cloud? Welcome any and all suggestions.
I’m working on an integration for Freightview for someone. I’ll let you know if they like it. I’m just the integrator, not the client so no idea on my end.
Jill, I would reach out to the quickship product owner and ask this question cause I think they may be working on things that pertain to this concern.
We use freightview for our LTL, but we use our own accounts with the carriers. You can also use freightview (owned by CH robinson) as a broker (via CH Robinson) and get quotes back from them using freightview’s TMS.
Thank you both for your responses. We will be looking into Freightview. We had Quick Ship OnPrem before and it was limited on what it could do. Not sure if the new cloud version is any better. Does anyone have any experience using the cloud version of Quick Ship? Please share your thoughts.
Transportation Insights but I wouldn’t call it a great solution. It runs off the MercuryGate API. I’m curious what other solutions people are using too. I wish Epicor would get it together with Quick ship (which we also use for parcel shipping) but too many issues/complaints to list, seems like they have just abandoned that product.
I sit on the quick ship product advisory group with several other Epicor users from companies around the world and I can tell you that they are getting their stuff together and introducing/working on some really critical, important, functionality that has been missing for LTL. That’s my own opinion based on what our company does in terms of shipping. Your process might be totally different, but to me the stuff they are working on is going to help a lot.
People have brought that up in the meetings, but I would need to defer to the quick ship group to elaborate on that. Do you want to connect with the product owner with me so you can elaborate on this? I know they have enhanced label functionality though , but it all depends on what your definition of “fix” is.
But seriously, I know they are actively listening and wanting feedback so if you want to say something about the labels I know they are working on that so it’d be a good time to connect. @aosemwengie1
Hi Utah,
I remember trying to get more information into my BOL from QuickShip from Epicor and it was not possible back in late 2022. We wanted to add fields like MasterPack.ShipStatusDescription and the Customer.CustID. We were told this was not possible. Also there were some Carriers that the ShipCodes were not there. Have these issues been fixed in the Cloud Version? Please let me know. Would be nice to be able to bring over extra fields that we would like to communicate to our Carriers and Customers thru API’s or some other way.
Quick Ship. It’s not easy to customize but for us the workflow is great. I am looking to use more rate shopping and adding the CH Robinson Navisphere license for LTL rate shopping. They integrated with most the LTL freight services.
Glad to hear Quickship is getting improvements for LTL, etc. They broke the FedEx Freight (LTL) BOL in the last update for us. It saves as a PDF on the quick ship server --in a folder the users can access-- but no longer prints it for our shipping users.
I also want to state that like @bderuvo said, the process of using quick ship is so well integrated that when they address some of the gaps in their system compared to their competitors I don’t see a reason to not switch back aside from cost. Of course, we’ll cross that bridge when we get there and do a full analysis, but from what I see they are actively listening and improving the product. Like @Randy said, they have their pitfalls (like any product- even o365), but I think listening to the direction they are trying to take it makes those mistakes a little softer because your team will know that better things are ahead.
