Epicor User Group Questions

I have not joined the EUG because it was hard to justify the cost to my boss. Especially given the usefulness of this online group. But.....

I have fond rememberance of the Digital Equipment Corp. User Society or DECUS organization. It was extremely effective as a "voice of the customer" and greatly benefited both DEC and the users. It also was sub-divided into many product groups (such as VAX / VMS) similar to what would work for Epicor's various products. The #1 thing that made it work was a lot of support (financial and otherwise) from DEC because they recognized that even thought the customers often did not agree with their actions they needed the input from them. It was a great two-way communications tool.

The other thing that made it work was dedication of the group leadership and there-in is the problem for Epicor. DECUS was heavily populated by academic institution people who were also inclined towards this type of organization. With Epicor being manufacturing oriented (dollars count!) it is a LOT harder to get people (and their employers) willing to devote the time to organizational meetings. Heck, the MN user group can't even get a local leader with time to do it so our CAM organizes meetings (and thank you very much too Brian!).

It all boils down to how much people feel it is worth to have a strong global user group. If EUG can be it that might be really great. I would love to see Perspectives be a combo of Epicor and User (real-life) sessions like DECUS was.

To All,

It appears Epicor likes and is supporting the EUG (Epicor User Group) by
giving them discounts
to perspectives, I don't think VMUG (Vantage Midwest User Group) members are
getting any deals, are we?

How many of you vantage onelist'ers or VMUG members are also members of the
EUG?

What value are you getting from the SIG (Special Interest Groups) for
Vantage under the EUG?

I see a %20 percent discount for members at perspectives, how does this
work?
It looks like it covers about 1/2 the $360 dues to be a member it that
correct?

Do you think with Sonoma we should start migrating all Vantage User Groups
under
the EUG Structure and get organized with all the other guys, Avante,
DataFlow,
Manage2000, etc...? (Power In Numbers)

Or do we try to get better organized and have them jump on our ship?

Perspectives would be a good opportunity to get this accomplished.

Patrick Winter

It seems like Vantage is Epicors future. I would let them come to us. Its nice for someone else to migrate to our system for a change.
