Epicor's Crystal Reports Training--- Please Advise!

Another possibility for Crystal Reports is with Misha 1 (http://www.misha1.net). They have a pretty good 2 day course using the Vantage database. They maybe more flexible. Just another option.

Hello All,
If any of you have taken the 3-day Crystal Report class offered by
Epicor, I would really appreciate hearing some feedback from you.
Was it helpful, well organized, informational?? Did you learn a lot??
Did you have good instructors?? My company is trying to decide if I
should enroll and with a cost of nearly 1200, I need to justify
enrollment with some good advice from those of you who have been
there.
Thanks in advance for your feedback! :-)
Joey

Took it several years ago but thought it was excellent. Trainer was from Seagate (Crystal Decisions) but used Vantage DB for all excercises and examples and he was very familiar with Vantage tables so able to make it pretty much a real-world setup. Might be worth checking to make sure this is still the case. It also helps to have a pretty good fundimental knowledge of table joins and basic report software concepts (like for RB or Access). A lot of the concepts are similar so some background will make it a lot more relevant. Like any classroom training a lot depends on where you are experience wise in relation to the rest of the class. They pretty much have to accomodate the least experienced and or slower learners but our instructor did well to keep things moving along too and stayed later for anyone not keeping up. He also was OK with impromptu messing around if you finished an excercise early and would answer questions beyond the scope of the class.

I thought it was well worthwhile and it gave me a very good jump start on being able to seriously modify the canned CR reports (like Job Traveler). It helped for me to have played with it for a few weeks before going to the class so I knew where I was weak and had to pay extra attention.

I also took it several years ago and the class was great. The instructor
was one of the best I've had. As Todd said, it makes a difference what your
general report-writing knowledge is. The class I took was more for
beginners, but since I had significant access and report builder experience,
I sort of breezed through the class exercises and went ahead and did my own
thing and the instructor was great at helping me and answering my questions
even though I wasn't following curriculum. I cam back form the class with a
handful of reports that we still use here. If you're a less experienced
report-writing user, it was definitely a slow enough pace and went into a
lot of detail so you'd learn a lot.
