For those of you importing BOMs from Solidworks into your ERP systems, what software/tools are you using to do this?
We’ve seen demos of CADLink but I’m interested in what other methods people have come up with to automate this.
We’d want to transfer across default and custom properties held against our models: e.g. Part Number; Description; Quantity; Revision; Product Group; Material spec.
Also looking to manage BOM changes, i.e. create new BOM revisions and add/update/delete parts as required.
I have used DMT to import and update BOMs into Engineering BOMs, and Jobs
The process helped streamline the work.
The spreadsheet that I used as a template would substitute Epicor part numbers for the engineer’s part numbers. They didn’t use a library of parts which I would recommend.
@ZanebK , we have a Visual Basic macro that exports the BOM from a Solidworks assembly to a CSV file and then we use DMT to import to Epicor. It’s semi-automated so it’s only used when we have a large number of new BOMs to generate.
Also note E10 has a built in import tool. Though limited to basics and a “quirky” interface… it still comes in handy when I don’t have access DMT or CadLink.
We are using Cadlink and importing boms into Epicor from Solidworks. If I set an custom quantity for a part like .5 I can get it to show up on my assembly drawing but Cadlink sets the quantity as one. We do this for belt & chain features that have units of measure of feet. How do I get Cadlink to see my custom quantities?
