Shop capacity doesn't control how the scheduling engine loads resources, it's simply a data cube for displaying scheduled resources vs. capacity. When you say it's overloading your resources when is it doing that, close in or further out towards your horizon. Do you have very long running jobs? The only thing that determines whether or not a job gets scheduled finitely when you use a finite horizon is if the required date falls inside the horizon. So if your required date is at 181 days from the current date the entire job is scheduled infinitely, and will certainly overload any resources it lands on regardless of capacity. This may or may not be your problem, it is an area where the engine falls down.

Just a thought... We have found we can get residual load on occasion if we do not re-start the app/SQL servers weekly or so.

So if your required date is at 181 days from the current date the entire job is scheduled infinitely, and will certainly overload any resources it lands on regardless of capacity. keeps overloading resources. Can someone point me towards what we need to
fix?

These are my resource settings:

Finite Capacity = True
Finite Horizon = 180
Concurrent Capacity = 0.00

When we run MRP this are the settings:

Cut Off Date -> ?
Schedule Start Date -> 01/01/00
Run Finite Scheduling -> yes
Ignore Constrained Materials -> yes
Allow Historical Dates -> yes
Use Production Preparation Buffer -> yes
Sort Level 0 MRP Jobs by Date -> no
Recycle MRP Jobs -> no
Run Multi Level Pegging -> no
Include Purchase Contract Items -> no
Number of MRP Processes -> 5
Number of Schedulers -> 2
Rough Cut Schedule When Getting Details -> yes
Plant List -> PCAD~MfgSys

Subject: [Vantage] FInite Scheduling

We are trying to set up Epicor to run finite scheduling for us... but it
keeps overloading resources. Can someone point me towards what we need to
fix?

These are my resource settings:

Finite Capacity = True
Finite Horizon = 180
Concurrent Capacity = 0.00

When we run MRP this are the settings:

Cut Off Date -> ?
Schedule Start Date -> 01/01/00
Run Finite Scheduling -> yes
Ignore Constrained Materials -> yes
Allow Historical Dates -> yes
Use Production Preparation Buffer -> yes
Sort Level 0 MRP Jobs by Date -> no
Recycle MRP Jobs -> no
Run Multi Level Pegging -> no
Include Purchase Contract Items -> no
Number of MRP Processes -> 5
Number of Schedulers -> 2
Rough Cut Schedule When Getting Details -> yes
Plant List -> PCAD~MfgSys
