Global Parts Blank Title 69587

you must first be using multi-company functionality. Thendecide your parent and child companies. In the parent company check the global box in part maint. Initially when this is done for a group of parts you can "push" parts to the child comapny. From then on when you add a part to the parent and make it global, go to the child company and open Part maint. click on the integrations tab, part links tab, Select global parts button. Search and a list will come up, select the parts you want to be in this child company and pull them into the screen. Click the "Link Selected" button and the system will create the linked parts in the child company.

Subject: [Vantage] Global Parts

I would like to know if anyone in the user community uses the global part functionality in part maintenance. I believe it is something we would like to use but I am not able to find any information on setup or how it works using multi-company.

I'm looking for any of this information:

What company configuration needs to be set up other than the Global Table Maintenance?

When a part is created in one company, and made Global, how does it create records for other companies?

Any information that anyone could give me would be helpful.

Thanks in advance for any input!

I'm working on Vantage 8.03.405A, and just ran across something odd.
I have a Multi-Company arrangement set up, and finally persuaded Sonic
to connect and let me link parts. But, not all of the parts I've
marked as Global in the parent company are coming across. The parent
has two plants, and any parts that I have marked as transfer from one
plant to the other don't show up when I search in the child company
for Global parts. Does anyone have any ideas how to approach this?

Lynn,

I recall seeing a thread related to this a few days ago.

If you haven't deleted old mail after reading (like I do), you can probably find it searching your mail on 'multi company' or 'global'

Sorry I don't recall the result of the thread... We're single company so it was just a curiosity and nothing necessary to take note of.

Rob,

I looked back a year, and the only item I found that applied to my situation is one that I posted over the summer. That issue turned out to be related to Sonic, which [after WAY too long searching] finally turned out to be very simple but quite obscure. Now, though, Sonic is running and linking parts, but only some parts. And my Global customers aren't accessible at all from the child company, which seems sort of to defeat the purpose. I've submitted a support call on that one.

Thanks!
