Hidden characters in SSRS text export

I created a positive pay SSRS report by modifying the Check Register report. The problem I’m finding though is that when I export the file (or make any changes to it), these two hidden characters appear in my text file. I have to use a hex editor in order to see them. If I remove them, the file is good, but if I make any changes to the file, they come back and I have to use the hex editor again.

Has anyone run into this?

Just wondering how you are exporting?
I’ve read of SSRS exports to csv where a byte order mark was being added.

@bordway Yes, I’m exporting to csv then saving that as txt since the file that I need to upload to the bank needs to be in txt

Sorry I don’t have a fix handy.
But… I might Google this one - e.g. SSRS, CSV and “byte order mark”

Figured it out @bordway - when I print it out to csv, I was choosing ‘unicode text’, if I chose ‘tab delimited txt’ it doesn’t have the hidden characters.

Thanks for the help!
