How do I Stop Phantom Session?

Mario - I started this thread and ended up solving it with PROMON.
Thanks for all the advise. I saw in Vantage HELP the utility you
suggested and tried it on the server, but the "disconnect" option was
still greyed out. PROMON worked fine and now I know!

What tool do I use to cancel "bob" session? I am running Progress
9.1c and Vantage 5.10.116.

You need to get into promon (see your install instructions), go to # 8 stop
the database (it only sounds scary) and kill the offending session.
Alternatively rebooting the server cleans things like this up as well. Feel
free to call me with more specific questions.

I just tried to end my sesion on our server (we have a client installed) and
it didn't work. the "disconnect" option is not greyed, when you click it a
dos app opens up and then disappears. my session is still running....

any suggestions?

On the Vantage server pull up a DOS prompt, cd into your PROGRESS\bin
directory and issue the following command:

_mprshut -0 C:\epic51\vantage\db\vantage.db

Where C:\epic51\vantage\db\vantage.db is the path to your Vantage database
file. It should pull up a program in the console where you can press 8,
take note of the number listed in the 'usr' column of the user you want to
dump, press 1 to disconnect the user, and enter the user number you want to
zap.

Without trying it, I assume that command is calling promon. That is what I
have been using to kill phantom sessions. I was hoping that doing it within
Vantage would be a little less painful, but I could not get it to work.
