Hung job situation

Not sure if I ever posted an update to the original question/situation I had had. But Brian Stenglein's suggestion to delete the operation worked. We could not "change" the operation that was causing the problem but could delete it. Once deleted the job could be closed without hanging. In our case labor on the operation has never been an issue otherwise I suppose some manual gyrations on costing might be required or the operation recreated and manual labor entries made for it.

Hello, Babette!
I just saw this email and I am having this same issue and tech support is not helping. I was wondering if you could tell me how to turn off the Business Activity Manager? Thank you in advance.

Thank you,
Tamara

We had this situation of one job hanging....
Seemed our resources were 'stressed'.

We had to turn off ALL of the logs/tracking thru
Business Activity Manager.

Once they were off.. the job was corrected/closed and the logs were turned on.

Subject: [Vantage] Hung job situation

We have a bad situation this morning where a job has an operation with a
wildly bad production standard so the estiamted hours is 19,585 when it
should be 1 hour. When either trying to change the standard or siimply
close the job it freezes the user's screen, CPU % for Prowin32 either maxes
out (close job) or sits at 9-15% (change standard) and freezes or slows the
user PC. In Promon the user id shows a huge number of record locks
(3,400+). When I kill the user session from Promon I have to do it twice
(never seen that before). We have tried letting it sit and see if it will
finish for up to 1/2 hour.

Any suggestions about what may be causing this or how to get around it?

Todd,
Check to see if your factory lot size has an appropriate number

Todd,

I've had this happen before. It's not locked up. It just may actually take
2-3 hours or more to process. Just start it on a (fast) PC that can sit for
a few hours and let it finish.

It happened to us when someone keyed the Job number into a quantity field
(ouch!). If I remember right, it took ~4 hours to process a simple quantity
change.

Good Luck!
