Stephen, I was doing this exact thing a while ago with no problems. So that
I understand - you desire a QC sheet to print on a seperate page for each
part/assembly - correct? Do you want the QC sheet to have any
heading/footer info supplied by Crystal or only the bitmap on the page?
Does the bitmap and/or the section take up the entire printable page area?

If you desire only the bitmap on the page, try these: make sure the "keep
together" property for the bitmap AND the section are checked; check "new
page before" property for the section; suppress the Report Footer - if only
last QC sheet is getting split, the report footer is probably the culprit.

Good luck
Jim Stetter

Stephen,

This may sound like a tangent question, but it's really not. Are you
running the Job Traveler report from the computer that you designed the
report on, or is it another computer that does not have Crystal Reports
installed on it? Or does the report work the same for both computers
(when
running it from Vantage)?
Also, which version of Crystal are you using and which version of
Vantage??
8.0 or 8.5? 5.0 or 5.1?

I know hate is a strong word but it's a lot less than some others I've
used
to describe it.

I want to add a QC sheet to print for each part or each sub-assembly
part.
I put the OLE object(bitmap image of QC sheet) in the Group Footer #2;
jobasmbl.BOMSEQ. In Crystal when I do a print preview it looks fine
and
works like it should. I save the file as a version 7. When I print a
Job
Traveler from Vantage it screws it up. It take the last QC sheet and
splits
it by printing it onto two pages with the header showing. Use the
following
code in the selection expert to suppress a header.

(PageNumber = TotalPageCount) OR ({jobasmbl.PARTNUM}
<>Next{jobasmbl.PARTNUM})

It works fine when opened in Crystal but not when printed from
Vantage.
What's up with this?

Try copying your crpe32.dll and crpaig80.dll from your Crystal developer

I know hate is a strong word but it's a lot less than some others I've
used
to describe it.

I want to add a QC sheet to print for each part or each sub-assembly
part.
I put the OLE object(bitmap image of QC sheet) in the Group Footer #2;
jobasmbl.BOMSEQ. In Crystal when I do a print preview it looks fine and
works like it should. I save the file as a version 7. When I print a
Job
Traveler from Vantage it screws it up. It take the last QC sheet and
splits
it by printing it onto two pages with the header showing. Use the
following
code in the selection expert to suppress a header.

(PageNumber = TotalPageCount) OR ({jobasmbl.PARTNUM}
<>Next{jobasmbl.PARTNUM})

It works fine when opened in Crystal but not when printed from Vantage.
What's up with this?

Good luck
Jim Stetter

I replaced the files and the Job Traveler comes up like it should. I
shouted "Yea baby!!!" and all that. Then I hit the print button and
excitedly went down to the printer. Nothing comes. I go back to my
workstation and print again. Nothing. Then my phone starts ringing off the
hook with people that can't print sales orders, packing slips, ect... I put
the old files back and everything is back like it was.

If you check the archives you will find what I went thru with crpe32.dll.
Vantage could not use the newer dll if I recall.

Try copying your crpe32.dll and crpaig80.dll from your Crystal developer
workstation and then putting them into the Vantage\DLL directory. You
will
also need to create a copy of the crpaig80.dll as crpaig32.dll. Most of
the
time when errors occur like the one that you have described is that the
crpe32.dll file on the developer station is newer then the one that
Vantage
is using.

Hope this helps,

I want to add a QC sheet to print for each part or each sub-assembly
part.
I put the OLE object(bitmap image of QC sheet) in the Group Footer #2;
jobasmbl.BOMSEQ.

(PageNumber = TotalPageCount) OR ({jobasmbl.PARTNUM}
<>Next{jobasmbl.PARTNUM})

It works fine when opened in Crystal but not when printed from
Vantage.
What's up with this?

Stephen,
What I had to do yesterday on a machine that couldn't run our modifed Poform.rpt report was to... Install Crystal on that machine, then uninstall it -- but leave all the .dll files intact. I know you don't want to have to do this to every machine that uses ODBC, but you might have to. Just the fact that the report runs on your computer (with Crystal) but not on the others points to this idea. If someone could pinpoint the EXACT .dll files to move, then that would be more simple. I'm pretty sure they all need to be in the c:\windows\system folder. The question is: which ones, and what version of each?

Simply running the setup utility for a crystal 8 compiled report would
probably distribute the necessary dll's.

I'm wondering, had the machine that couldn't run the poform report been
running any compiled reports?

Stephen,
What I had to do yesterday on a machine that couldn't run our modifed
Poform.rpt report was to... Install Crystal on that machine, then uninstall
it -- but leave all the .dll files intact. I know you don't want to have to
do this to every machine that uses ODBC, but you might have to. Just the
fact that the report runs on your computer (with Crystal) but not on the
others points to this idea. If someone could pinpoint the EXACT .dll files
to move, then that would be more simple. I'm pretty sure they all need to
be in the c:\windows\system folder. The question is: which ones, and what
version of each?

I replaced the files and the Job Traveler comes up like it should. I
shouted "Yea baby!!!" and all that. Then I hit the print button and
excitedly went down to the printer. Nothing comes. I go back to my
workstation and print again. Nothing. Then my phone starts ringing off the
hook with people that can't print sales orders, packing slips, ect... I put
the old files back and everything is back like it was.

Thanks Ted, that's what I was trying to get at... DLL problems (mismatches)
between Crystal and Vantage.

Yes it does. I even tried some different printer and OS still does the
same
thing.

What I mean is: If you run the report from Vantage on a different
workstation, does it act the same way as when you run the report from
Vantage on YOUR workstation?

The report works the same bad way when running it from Vantage. I'm
using
Crystal 8.0.

I want to add a QC sheet to print for each part or each sub-assembly
part.
I put the OLE object(bitmap image of QC sheet) in the Group Footer #2;
jobasmbl.BOMSEQ.

(PageNumber = TotalPageCount) OR ({jobasmbl.PARTNUM}
<>Next{jobasmbl.PARTNUM})

It works fine when opened in Crystal but not when printed from
Vantage.
What's up with this?
