<sorry for the late reply - was out of town for a week>

I can understand why those who are used to an ACT!, an MS Dynamics, a
SalesLogix, or a SalesForce.com are disappointed in CRM. IW is a step in the
right direction but it's tied only to Outlook and won't work with other
"traditional" CRM leaders. It's odd because the approach goes against the
spirit of "TrueSOA".

I'm looking at implementing Information Worker and CRM to replace ACT! We own the licensing for both. I'd like any feedback you have on IW and CRM, particularily any bugs that effect the 8.03.407 service pack.
We are in the process of replacing Act as well, but with only CRM. We cannot use IW since we use lotus notes. Of course, it has been a tough sell to get the users to move from Act, but we have been introducing a lot of customizations based on user need and want. Contact me off list if you need specifics.

We have not seen any major bugs (version 404b), but there are a few which supposedly have been fixed in 408. These are primarily in tasks and the sales person pipeline.

Thanks,
Kunal

We use CRM. The one problem with CRM is any contact in it has to be in you customer database. Unfortunately for us, our customers are distributors but sales wants to use CRM for end users (who are not our customers).

Other then that, it seems to work OK and we haven't experienced any major bugs with it. It does kind of feel more like a third party add-on then an actual Epicor integrated module, but don't get me wrong, it is fully integrated like any other module.

Some of our people have pushed to replace CRM with ACT!, but I'm not a big fan of ACT! so at this time we are sticking with CRM.

The CRM essentially gives you opportunities/quotes, Case Entry, and the salesperson workbench (which is essentially a bunch of queries/dashboards linked together to view territory information, orders, jobs, RMAs, Invoices, etc all in one place. The CRM Calls launched from the workbench are fairly sparse when it comes to number of fields compared to other CRM packages. We modified the calls using the char01, shortchar01, etc fields to give us what the fields we needed to use CRM Calls. Be aware though that modifying CRM calls do not automatically allow those user defined fields to download to Outlook through Info Worker, You need to modify the IW content pack if you want those fields to show up in Outlook
Â
Its greatest strength is that it combines all the information you would want in one database without having to support both ACT (or SalesLogix or Salesforce.com) and Epicor separately
