Yeah, percentages are a pet peeve of mine, especially when used by government officials, news orgs, etc…
Intentional or not, they often introduce more of a slant than any clarity.

The worst is when the talk about changes of percentages. Like if the hotel tax goes from 1% to 2%, they say “it went up 1 %”. I say it went up 100%.
