Job Entry MRP date updates

I attached a screenshot here.
Prior to the newer Kinetic version of Epicor, we used to be able to update the “Req By” date on any MRP jobs. Since the update, it is grayed out and we can no longer do it which is causing us to play a game of pick a date when scheduling and hope it works…(it doesnt)…
Does anyone know how to get that re-opened for MRP jobs made through “MRP Process” in Kinetic?

Thanks!!

Welcome @FilomenaT !!!

What is the demand link for that job?

Our demand link is always “make to stock”. Same as it was before the update.

If you un-engineer it, you should be able to change it.

“MRP jobs” = unfirm jobs?

I have rescheduled unfirm jobs before. I can explain more if need be. This would change the start and end dates, though not the required date.

Or are you saying you cannot change it even after it is firmed?

The MRP jobs are unfirmed, that is correct.
However when we “reschedule” them, it adjusts the “start”, “final op” and “due date” but not the “Req By” date.
In the previous version, we were able to alter the “Req By” date and save it without scheduling it. We essentially use the “MRP” job as a place holder for when we are ready to firm them up and get a legit job number to place out on the floor for operations.

If that makes sense.

I’ve been dealing with MRP for 8 years, and 90% of our jobs stay unfirm until we need them, so I am familiar with users’ passion about these dates. I understand.

But I guess I don’t see the logic in changing the Req Date.

For one, it’s not just the job that has a date - every bit of material in the job has it too. Time Phase syncs with the material’s dates, not the job’s dates, and PO suggestions build off of that, etc.

My point in all of that is, if you could/did change only the Req Date of the job but did not reschedule it, then the material dates will not update. Don’t you need that to be accurate, much more than JobHead.ReqDate?

Also, if MRP is making these Req Dates “wrong,” why is that? Maybe you can find that root cause. I know, that’s a big project and involves people who may not care about your little ERP software. But I thought I’d ask.

As a sanity check for myself, here is a firm job but I have a bunch of different dates in there.

Time Phase for the thing that the job produces:

Time Phase for a component of that same job:

Neither of them use the Req Date.
