Job Scheduling in 8.03.305e

Carey,

Thank you for the tip.

I noticed that the 'constrain' field in the part master form is not available.

I know what I need to do now.

Joe

When marking the material as constrained in the part master, the scheduling engine will not begin the operation until the material is available.

Hello Group,I've been trying to schedule a simple job. This job consistant of two operations and a material. The material is non-stock and takes 20 days to get. The first step is an subcontacted operation to get the part painted. That takes 3 days. Once I receive the job back, we'll take 30 to QC and store it away.simple right? When I forward schedule the job, as of today, it tells me that the subcontracted step will complete in 3 days and I have 30 minutes of QC.What am I missing? This job should be scheduled to start 20 days from now, because that is the lead time on to receive the non-stocked part.I am getting a purchasing suggestion to buy the part with a due date 20 days from now.I've also changed the part into a stocked part, and it does the same thing. What am I missing?Thank you in advance.Joe Berg__________________________________________________________Be a PS3 game guru.Get your game face on with the latest PS3 news and previews at Yahoo!

Is the leadtime in the Job material line or just in the part master?

If you change it into a stock part. Material constraints do not take
effect unless you have APS and the part is marked as Constrained
material

It's in the part master file, and when I create the job, that information is bought into the job material line.

So, if it is a non-stock part, it should tell me that job can start in twenty days? Or do I still APS?

To my knowledge, you are right , if it is a non stock (Purchase Direct
Item) it does not need APS and should apply the 20 day constraint.. That
said I have never consistently tested it.
