Vista 8.03-409c APS help

I worked with it in Vantage 8.03.4xx but its been awhile. Let me look back at my notes from there and share with you what we had to do

LOL yes, I understand why you would ask but even without the constrained button being checked, again from the Technical Guide: "In reality, all materials are constrained. However, you should only constrain materials that are absolutely
necessary at certain points in the schedule. If you indicate that all materials are constrained, the scheduling
engine will add too much time to each job schedule."
In our reality nothing is constrained.

I am looking for someone who is using Vista 8.03-409c AND Advanced Planning and Scheduling module and is willing to help us out.
I am the Master Scheduler and we recently purchased the Advanced Planning and Scheduling module. I have read the technical manual and worked with Epicor support, but it doesn't work like I think it should. Welding jobs are scheduled to start before the plates are available and that is contrary to everything I have read. So, I'm wondering if there is something we are missing that someone who has been there, done that could help us out.

From the Scheduling Technical Reference Guide: "Materials can be constrained, which means that the materials must be available before the engine will
schedule an operation. If the engine discovers that the constrained material cannot be issued to the operation
at a specific time, it will locate another time when the material can be issued."
This doesn't work for us. The ATP shows negative quantity but jobs still schedule before raw material or components are available. Always have - we thought Advance Planning and Scheduling module would fix this. It did not.
Epicor says it works for 8.03-409c but, so far, has been unable to tell us why it doesn't work for us.
Does anyone have experience they are willing to share?
