L ODBC and 5.2

Erik,
I was speaking with Epicor last week about another issue and was informed that Progress does not support Procontrol any longer as of Progress 9.1D. That may be part of the problem you're having.
They still worked with me in resolving my issue, but it may be the Progress is getting further and further away from Procontrol altogether. You may need to migrate over to the built-in Progress ODBC drivers (SQL-92). After being around since 5.0 (9.1A) most of the bugs seem to be cleared out.

Troy,

The strange thing is that it always worked with previous releases of
Progress and now running with Progress 9.1D01 it doesn't.

Erik,
I think you may be able to start the oibrkr32.exe from a batch file.
Contact Jay at Epicor for details (or one of the other Tech guys).

We are on Vantage 5.2 with Progress 9.1D01 and still using the Merant 3.6
drivers and starting the ODBC oibrkr32 broker with the procontrol on our
W2K
server.
The problem I encounter is when logging off from the server the
oibrkr32.exe
crashes generating a Dr Watson log. The result is that reports based on
odbc
will not work.

The work around I found is to use the "Remote Desktop Connection" to login
at the server, start oibrkr32.exe with procontrol and disconnect again.
In this situation the broker continues running.

But on our NT server I haven't found any work around....

I haven't tried it yet, Ted. I may actually start trying to use the SQL92
drivers in Vantage 5.2 (if/when we move there). We currently still are
using
the old Merant 3.5 drivers with Vantage 5.1. Works great for us. Now
that
the Error 599 is supposedly fixed in 5.2, I may give it a try in the test
database. I'd love to hear anyone's experience on this before I try,
though.

Is anyone using modified Vantage Crystal reports that use ODBC
connections
with version 5.2? I've read an issue on the Crystal Decisions web site.
It
has do with the SQL92 connections (sysprogress) not disconnecting
properly
after running these reports from within Vantage.

Just curious,
