I have an Epicor Idea in the portal and would like some help getting some traction on it if you run into the same issues. Please vote this one up. Thank you.
Add a Kinetic screen that lets engineering users view all checked-out assemblies within a selected ECO Group and perform grid-based mass edits—such as replacing a common material across many BOMs or updating run/setup time on an operation—then apply the change to all selected items in one action. Today, each assembly must be opened and edited one-by-one in the Engineering Workbench.
This can be accomplished by allowing all the assemblies within the ECO Group to be displayed, but then allow filters to find the common materials or operations so that they can be manipulated in the grid.
Utilization of Phantom BOMs also would help in this case. This is assuming that you have the same set of operations/materials across many assemblies and don’t want sub assemblies in your jobs.
Phatoms can really help as @LarsonSolutions suggested… but then there are times when it doesn’t work for Phantoms. For example, when you are working with a company that makes Fasteners… the material list is ONE ITEM… the only thing that changes is the length of the material. The operation list might be more extensive, and while you can have a phantom for the operations, the operation times might be different for each finished part, making it not possible to use a universal phantom. BUT if you want to change the operation for all 100 different sizes of a set of fasteners, you could check them all out to a new revision, filter out the operation, and adjust all 100 at once.
Yes, as @Randy said, you CAN do this with DMT, but again, this becomes unmanagable if you want non-technical people (ones who you dont want using DMT) to do their job.
I actually implemented this concept as an updatable dashboard for several companies, and it really worked nice. Hoping that we can get it into a future version.
Yeah while we use phantoms for some of these a lot of ours are different changes that phantoms doesn’t quite fix. So if we did phantoms we would have to change from one phantom to another.
