I assume you really mean you were doing Supply forecasting refected in Master Schedules in Avante9.3.5.i,
We are about 1/2 way through our re-iterative piloting og 8.03 and found the supported master scheduling process was no improvement of lame M/S support in our current system (PK7).
On PK7 (and our plan for Vantage) is to simply do what you suggest: Launch Firmed jobs at appopriate product tructure levels to drive purchaisng of long lead time castings and forgings,
Perhaps Epicor will surprise us with the next major release in a few months and provide a truly empowering master schedule tool that is easy to use AND contains a small set of common statistical analysis tools built in to make development of a master schedule more effective..
