MRP seems to ignure purchased vs manufactured type

Do you have a primary supplier referenced in partplant? I've seen that impact Fab parts so not having it on Purch parts w/ approved rev primary methods (boms) may also come into play.
Worst case - document your purch type boms in alt methods (and leave primary w/ no method).
That'll also keep cost rolls accurate for std cost.

Subj:[Vantage] MRP seems to ignure purchased vs manufactured type

Many parts in our system are configured as purchased parts but have a full BOM associated with them. When we did a trial MRP run (Vantage 8.803) it seemed to ignore the manufactured vs purchased flag and started driving purchase suggestions for the material inside the BOM of purchased parts with BOMs.

I expected that the MRP would generate a purchase suggestion when it saw the purchased part flag, but instead it generated an unfirm job for the purchased part and purchase suggestions for the parts underneath.

Are we doing something wrong?

We have BOMs associated with our purchased parts because we use the BOMs as control documents for our full turnkey contract manufacturer.
