Multiple pay rates for employees?

I would like to thank Deb, Paul and all the others who responded to
my message. Unfortunately there is no easy answer.

In addition to job adjustments, I have been experimenting with using
multiple Shop Employees to impact job costs. Also very manual, very
messy.

Anyone using multiple pay rates for employees? We pay special rates
for overnight installation work. For the employee to get the special
pay rate and also charge the job for the special rate seems to
require a lot of manual intervention. Am I missing something?
Does anyone have a system to work around this?

Can you put the installation work into a category such as Overtime or Shift Differential? Surely there are folks using those options.

The problem with that is the overtime or shift is based upon the
employee's base pay and we are trying to pay a different rate for
this particular job. In other words... Employees will normally be
paid between $X and $Y based upon skill level. But if they work as
installers they will be paid $Z which is NOT based upon their regular
pay.

Well....brain teaser as it was, I couldn't find a way to have the Vantage
program work for you - and support confirmed it.
There is only one rate per employee. So, the only "fix" is job adjustment.
Sounds like a lot of manual work for someone. More manual work=more chances
for error in addition to the draining of time resources.

Support did send an enhancement request form which is one of the ways to get
a change made. 787183MPS was my call number. Don't know if anyone else has
already called on this issue.
