Non stock jobs

If you create the job with a part number that is in the part master, then go
back and change the part number to the non stock item, it will work. I have
done this and have not had any problems so far.

We have also encountered this and are not real happy about it either. We
used this method to make fixtures and things and really did not want them as
stocked parts. We have not found any way around this except to put the part
in the part master file and would like the old flexibility of 3.0 back.

We successfully moved to 4.0 2 weeks ago. For the most part it was seamless. One difference has created a problem for us. Has anyone encountered this? Any alternatives?
In 3.0 we could create jobs for nonstock parts without linking to any sales order. In 4.0 we no longer can do that. We need to make a part stock if we wish to create a job for it w/out an associated order. The logic of 3.0 gave us more flexibility. Any suggestions?

Phil,
Investigate the "Make Direct" check box in Sales Order Entry.

That assumes there is a Sales Order.
